Michelle Hoffman, CPA, CGFM
Michelle is founder and CEO of Hoffman CFO Consulting, a CFO consulting and outsourced accounting solutions company. She has over 20 years’ experience with all aspects of CFO consulting, accounting, and auditing.
At Hoffman CFO Consulting, Michelle has acted as CFO for some of the DC area’s most visible emerging technology companies and government contractors. She has worked with small companies and helped them grow into multi-million dollar organizations. Michelle specializes in creating the right “scalable” solution for clients that puts a team in place with the right experience and cost mix to give each client what they need, just in time. Much of Michelle’s work involves helping clients improve existing accounting processes and systems, implement new technologies and enhance financial data and reporting.
Subject area expertise includes Software as a Service and ecommerce companies. Michelle has significant experience in cost accounting and manufacturing. She implemented PeopleSoft cost accounting system at the US Mint, supported the largest manufacturer and distributor of after-market struts in the nation, a manufacturer of man-overboard products for naval fleets and maritime ships, and a manufacturer of consumer accessory products.
Michelle is often engaged for project level support to help a client achieve a specific objective, for example, pass a government or financial audit, or take the company to a successful exit. She has helped government contractors implement accounting systems, including Deltek GCS and Procas, and pass DCAA pre-award audits to achieve “approved system” status.
Michelle is a long time member of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and Women In Public Policy, an organization supporting women owned business. For these organizations, she has conducted training and seminars on Access to Capital and Accounting for Government Contractors.
Prior to establishing Hoffman CFO Consulting, Michelle spent 10 years in the federal government as a financial auditor, system auditor and systems accountant. She holds degrees in International Business and Economics and is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Government Financial Manager. Michelle’s interests include urban development, sports and spending time with family.
Ron Kaiser has over 35 years of experience in public and private finance, accounting and operations management and has served as CFO or CEO for companies in information technology, life sciences and high tech manufacturing. Since 1981, he has served as CFO during six Initial Public Offerings which raised over $400 million on initial valuations totaling over $1.7 Billion and as an executive officer or director during the development of 15+ Companies, including the sale of 11 companies for amounts totaling $2.5 Billion.
He served as a board member, audit committee chair and other committee member for OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ; OPNT) from 2003 through it’s sale to Riverbed in 2012; for Vocus Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:VOCS) from 2005 through its sale to GTCR in 2014; and, since 2008, for Tangoe, Inc. (NASADQ: TNGO. He also has served since the fall of 2012 as a Board and Committee member for The NEAT COMPANY and for Acetylon Pharmaceuticals, private companies in software and drug discovery, respectively.
Ron served as a managing director of the Chesapeake Innovation Center (a Maryland incubator/accelerator serving Homeland and National Security) and as a Board member of the Annapolis Area Christian School, a K-12 private school in his home town of Annapolis, MD. He currently serves as a Director of the Capital Area Chapter of the NACD,
Ron is an instructor and seminar speaker (in over fifty professional society programs on internal control, C.O.S.O., operations, and IT security), a coach for the NVTC FastTrac program, and a regional and national panelist on IPO processes and public reporting. Ron was nominated three times as a MidAtlantic “CFO of the Year" (OTG Software and Trusted Information Systems IPO's), receiving the “Community Service” award in 2001. In 2014, He was awarded the “Hall of Fame Award” by the NVTC and Regional Technology Counsels and named in the January/February 1999 issue of Tech Capital magazine as one of one of the East Coast’s Top Ten CFOs.
He is a Michigan native, holds degrees in Accounting and Social Science (Michigan State – 1977) and has lived with his wife Teresa in the Annapolis, Maryland area since 1995. Both Ron and Terre are active in their local church and involved in several local ministries.
